Welcome to the online home of Dylan Days, an organization supporting the arts and honoring Bob Dylan in his hometown of Hibbing, Minnesota. Over the years Dylan Days has built a grassroots tradition including the singer/songwriter contest, writing contest and literary showcase, visual arts competition, Bobby Zimmerman bus tour, live music and more.
Contests
From its humble origins as a spontaneous jam session, to its growth as part of the Hibbing Area Chamber of Commerce, to its current status as a fast growing, independent community arts organization, Dylan Days seeks to enhance the arts community in Northern Minnesota through holding the following contests and exhibits for Dylan Days 2012.
Creative Writing Contest
The B.J. Rolfzen Memorial writing contest for poetry and short fiction. Winners of the contest will be published in the "Talkin' Blues" journal and official Dylan Days program and receive copies of the publication.All fiction will be judged in one category; poetry will be judged in a student division and an open division for all other poets. Singer/Songwriters Contest
Dylan Days, the music and arts event held every year in Bob Dylan's hometown, announces its 2012 Singer/Songwriter contest on May 25 and May 26. In two separate shows contestants will be invited to sing one Dylan song and one original song in a judged competition. Singer/songwriters in the signature Friday, May 25 evening lineup will compete for an electric guitar. A "bonus" contest singer/songwriter contest (for more casual competitors) will be held the afternoon of Saturday, May 26, competing for an acoustic guitar. Click here to learn more.
Visual Art Exhibit
This exhibit, displaying unique art in a prominent display during Dylan Days, is open to all two diminsional media and three dimensional media no larger than three feet high or three feet wide. Click here to learn more.
